Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 4, 2026
Cognitta is built on a simple principle: your data is none of our business. The app runs entirely on your device. We have no servers, no account system, and no way to see what you do.
The short version: Cognitta does not collect, transmit, store remotely, sell, or share any personal information. There is no account to create. Nothing you do in the app leaves your phone.
Who we are
This policy applies to the Cognitta mobile application ("Cognitta," "the app," "we," "us") published for Android. If you have questions, contact us at hello@cognitta.app.
Information we collect
We do not collect any personal information. Specifically:
- No account, name, email address, or phone number is required or requested.
- No usage analytics or telemetry are sent to us or any third party.
- No advertising identifiers are collected.
- No location data is collected.
- No contacts, photos, files, or messages are accessed.
Your settings, problem history, streaks, and statistics are stored only in local storage on your device. If you uninstall the app, that data is removed with it.
The Accessibility Service
Cognitta uses Android's Accessibility Service for a single, narrowly defined purpose: to detect when you open an app you have chosen to guard, so it can display a problem before that app loads. This is the only reliable way on Android to detect foreground app changes in real time, and it is the core function of the app.
Cognitta does not use the Accessibility Service to:
- Read, capture, or log any content displayed in other apps;
- Record keystrokes or any text you type;
- Interact with, control, or automate other applications;
- Collect or transmit any data off your device.
The service runs only while you have explicitly enabled it in Android Settings, and you can disable it at any time. When disabled, Cognitta cannot present problems, and no app detection occurs.
How information is used
Because all data stays on your device, it is used solely to operate the app for you — for example, to remember which apps you've chosen to guard and to display your streak and statistics. We never see this information.
Data sharing and selling
We do not share, sell, rent, or disclose any data to any third party, because we do not collect or hold any data in the first place. There are no advertising networks, analytics providers, or data brokers integrated into Cognitta.
Children's privacy
Cognitta is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children, because the app collects no personal information at all.
Your choices and rights
Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct, or delete on a server. You retain full control of your local data: you can clear the app's data in Android Settings, or uninstall the app to remove it entirely. You can revoke the Accessibility permission at any time in your device settings.
Security
All app data remains in your device's private app storage, protected by Android's standard application sandbox. Since no data is transmitted, there is no transmission to intercept.
Changes to this policy
If we ever change how Cognitta handles data, we will update this page and revise the "last updated" date above. If a future version of the app introduces any data collection, we will disclose it clearly and request your consent where required.
